According to an autopsy, 82 year old Joan Payne died as a result of asphyxiation by smoke inhalation.
Payne was found after the fire was reported at 2931 Tanlewood Place just before 5:30am Wednesday.
Owensboro Fire Crews arrived on the scene to find the home engulfed in smoke.
Owensboro Fire Department is still investigating the scene and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
