The Daviess County Sheriff’s office and Owensboro Police Bob Unit were called to a residence on Reid Road where a suspected hand grenade was found this (Wednesday) afternoon.
            Police were called after people were cleaning up a fire damaged mobile home and found the device.
            The Sheriff’s Department reports several homes were evacuated in the area.
            The owner of the home, 56 year old Ben Johnson, who is incarcerated at the Daviess County Detention Center, reported the device was a “training grenade”.
            The device was removed by the Owensboro Police Bomb Unit and the Sheriff’s Department reports charges are not pending at this time.
