Night Work Planned on US 60 in Crittenden County Thursday
A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to restrict traffic for night work along US 60/Main Street in CRITTENDEN County on Thursday, August 23, 2012.
This night lane restriction and work zone is to allow base repairs along US 60/Main Street through downtown Marion on Thursday night.
This is along US 60 in Marion between mile point 9.204 at the intersection of US 60/Gum Street with US 641/Main Street and extends eastward along Main Street and Sturgis Road through Marion to mile point 10.755 at Rush Creek Bridge.
This initial round of base repair work is expected to be completed in one night. Traffic will then be allowed to run on the repaired areas for about a week to allow the road base to settle.
The contractor will then be back along this section of US 60/Main Street for milling and asphalt paving work starting around Thursday, September 30 , 2012. A high level of cooperation is requested of the public during the paving phase. No on-street parking will be allowed along this section of US 60/Main Street/Sturgis Road during the milling and paving.
Motorists should be alert for one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers. Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel are on the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
This work is being scheduled at night to minimize traffic disruptions. Approximately 9,000 vehicles travel this section of US 60 in downtown Marion in a average day.
This segment of US 60 is part of a group paving project that started last fall that included a section of KY 1077. The paving was put on hold to allow the City of Marion to complete installation of new water lines through the downtown area.
Rogers Group, Inc., is the prime contractor on this $555,000 highway improvement project. The estimated completion date for asphalt paving is September 7th.
