A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans rolling road blocks on the Wendell Ford-Western Kentucky Parkway in OHIO County on Wednesday & Thursday, March 19 & 20, 2014.
These rolling road blocks during daylight hours along the WK Pkwy near the 82 mile marker are to allow pre-cast concrete beams to be placed as part of ongoing construction of the New KY Hwy 505 Overpass.
On Wednesday, March 19th, rolling road blocks will be for eastbound traffic on the WK. From time to time police assisting with the project will slow traffic several miles out from the construction site. This will create a gap in traffic to allow the contractor to install bridge beams. This process will be repeated several times during the day as needed on March 19th.
If all goes well on Wednesday, there will be rolling road blocks for westbound traffic from time to time during daylight hours on Thursday, March 20th. Again, police assisting with the project will slow traffic several miles out from the construction site. This will create a gap in traffic that will allow the contractor to complete a portion of the beam installation work. This process will be repeated several times during the day as needed.
Motorists who regularly travel this section of the Western Kentucky Parkway between the Exit 77 Natcher Parkway Interchange and Exit 94 Caneyville Interchange should be aware of these planned rolling road blocks and use appropriate caution.
As a reminder, KY Hwy 505/Baizetown-Windy Hill Road is closed in Ohio County to allow construction of the new overpass.
The overpass, at KY Hwy 505 mile point 6.487, was struck and severely damaged by an unknown vehicle traveling the WK Parkway westbound in November of 2012.
This demolition and construction work on the KY Hwy 505 Overpass also require lane restrictions on the Western Kentucky Parkway at mile point 82.112 in Ohio County.
Scott & Murphy, Inc., is the prime contractor on this $1,297,816 bridge replacement project. The anticipated completion date is September 15, 2014.
