Threats Lead to Arrest of Lexington Man in Daviess County Monday

An incident in Daviess County led the eventual arrest of a Lexington man Monday.
According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department the incident began at 10:37am when a person from Alabama received an alleged text from 18 year old Samual Powell saying “today is the day” and threatened to point a gun at officers so they would shoot him.
After an initial check on Powell, a call before 2:00pm led deputies to 3099 Taylor Road where another threat was made.  The Sheriff’s Department, along with Owensboro Police, Kentucky State Police and others, surrounded a garage where Powell was located.
At 10:45pm, tear gas was launched into the garage and Powell surrendered.
The Sheriff’s Department says charges pending are expected to include first degree burglary and multiple counts of first degree wanton endangerment.
