Traffic Delays Possible Saturday in Todd, Muhlenberg, Hopkins Counties
If you are travelling in Todd, Muhlenberg or Hopkins Counties this weekend, beware for a very large truck. According to the Transportation Cabinet, an oversize load being carried by Universal Am Cam may cause some traffic hazards today. The truck is to be carrying an industrial dryer being delivered to Hibbs Electric in Madisonville. The vehicle is likely to impede traffic at times. We have posted the complete route and roads effective on our web site, along with this story.
Highways on the planned route for this weekend include:
US 79 from Tennessee
US 41 at Guthrie
KY 181 through Todd Co.
US 62 & KY 189 at Greenville
KY 601 & KY 175 through western Muhlenberg Co.
KY 70 into eastern Hopkins Co
Pennyrile PKWY at Madisonville
KY 281 & US 41-A into Madisonville
Due to the dimensions, this load may impede traffic. It is 75 long, 156 wide, & 1611 tall.
The carrier has been instructed to have at least 2 front and 2 rear escort vehicles with a height pole front escort and marked law enforcement on site at all times. Additionally, the carrier has a rush hour restriction that prohibits movement 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The permit is effective and allows the load to move along these routes until 12/23/2012n but it will most likely move this weekend.
Motorists should be alert for this oversized load moving through Todd, Muhlenberg, and Hopkins Counties and use appropriate caution.
