Methodist Hospital Gets Award

Morganfield, KY – Methodist Hospital Union County was named a “Top 20 Critical Access Hospital for Financial Stability” by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA) at the organization’s Critical Access Hospital Conference on September 28, 2012.

Top 20 Hospital Award recipients are determined by iVantage Health Analytics after examining data in three categories for the more than 1,300 critical access hospitals in the nation: quality, patient satisfaction, and financial stability. Methodist Hospital Union County received high scores on the Financial Stability Index, a rating of hospital performance based on the percentile rank on a set of balance sheet and income statement financial ratios.

Brock Slabach, NRHA vice president for member services, said in a prepared statement, “The NRHA applauds the efforts of (Administrator Pat Donahue and the staff of) Methodist Hospital Union County to bring the best possible health care delivery to your rural community. Congratulations on this prestigious accomplishment.”

Chief Operating Officer for Methodist Hospital, Wayne Meriwether, said, “This is a wonderful recognition for Pat and his team at Union County. Financial stability is only achieved through a team effort and hard work. In this instance, financial stability is a result of increased volume, which means we are meeting more of the health care needs of those in our service area. It also means we can continue to provide those services in a facility that best meets the needs of those in and around Union County. Congratulations, Methodist Hospital Union County, for a job well done!”

Administrator, Pat Donahue, adds, “This recognition is not only a milestone for the staff at Methodist Hospital Union County, but for the entire Methodist organization. It is a result of the outstanding teamwork demonstrated daily.” He continues, “None of this would be possible without the incredible support of our medical staff and employees. We are extremely blessed to be part of this community and able to provide care for the people in Union County. Our financial stability allows us the opportunity to find new and better ways to meet the health needs of those in our service area. I am so proud of our hospital family. Great job, team!”
