Madisonville Council Gets First Reading of New Budget



          THE MADISONVILLE CITY COUNCIL HEARD FIRST READING OF THE NEW BUDGET YESTERDAY.  

          THE 62 MILLION DOLLAR BUDGET FOR THE CITY WAS TOUTED BY MAYOR JACKSON FOR KEEPING ELECTRIC RATES AS LOW AS POSSIBLE, PAYING DOWN LONG-TERM DEBT WITH NO ADDITIONAL BORROWING, INVESTING IN INFRASTRUCTURE, AND PROVIDING MORE RECYCLING.  

          JACKSON ALSO SAID THAT THE NEW  BUDGET CONTAINED A 2 PERCENT COST OF LIVING ADJUSTMENT FOR CITY WORKERS.
